Scotch Bonnet is a boutique hair salon in downtown West Palm Beach, serving Palm Beach County, Palm Beach Island, Jupiter and Tequesta. It’s built for the person who has a discriminating eye for great hair but no appetite for a snobby salon.
We are genuinely obsessed with the craft, cutting, coloring, styling. Every stylist on the floor is in continuing education, because the standard here is set by what we teach other professionals, not by what’s easy. And the room is loud, warm and fun.

Our work

The studio
A ground-floor loft in the City Palms building, on Quadrille between Iris and Hibiscus: concrete floors, twenty-foot ceilings, a steel staircase and a wall of windows onto downtown.
Named after a pepper with a serious reputation.
The scotch bonnet, nicknamed the “Scotty Bon”, is a squat, wrinkled little pepper that looks harmless and absolutely is not. It seemed like the right name for a room full of people who don’t take themselves too seriously and take hair extremely seriously.
The space doubles as an advanced training center for professional hairdressers. When class is in session, it becomes Scotch Bonnet Advanced, and the same floor you get your hair cut on is where stylists from around the country come to get better.

Nearly three decades behind the chair. She came up through Visions Hair in Wellington, then trained under Nick Arrojo in New York City, a man who does not hand out approval easily.
These days she teaches beside the names she learned from: advanced cutting and color at Scotch Bonnet Advanced, Fuel education events with top stylists from around the country, and the stage at industry shows. Between classes she’s behind her own chair, and her clients tend to stay for years.
If your hair needs the advanced work, whether that’s a serious correction, a technical cut, or color with a history, this is the chair.

I’ve never been. What happens first?
Every new guest gets a free consultation before anything happens, in person or on the phone. We look at your hair, talk about what you actually want, and give you a real price and a realistic timeline. Then you decide.
How do I choose a stylist level?
All four levels are held to the same standard of finished work. What you’re paying for at the higher levels is years of experience, speed, and demand for that person’s time. If your hair is straightforward, a Stylist will do beautiful work. If you’re coming in with a difficult correction, a big change, or hair that’s fought back before, go higher.
Do you cut curly and highly textured hair?
Yes, and it’s a specialty rather than an afterthought. Highly textured curly cuts are priced separately at every level because they take real time and are cut with the curl pattern, not against it.
Can you fix color from another salon?
Corrective color is some of our favorite work. Book a consultation first, corrections are quoted individually because they depend entirely on what’s already on your hair, and they often take more than one visit to do safely.
Where do I park?
Metered street parking on Iris, Hibiscus and Dixie, or the CityPlace garage directly across Hibiscus. If you’re in for full color, pay for at least four hours so you aren’t watching a meter.
Do you do bridal and formal styling?
We do. Formal and bridal styling is available at every level. For a wedding party, call the studio directly so we can block the right amount of time and the right number of stylists.
